gridChallenge

Hold the dots, ignore the distraction

Aon's gridChallenge. A dot lights up on a grid and you must hold its position — but between each dot you're interrupted by an unrelated puzzle to solve. At the end of the round you recall every dot, in order. Measures executive attention: memory under active interference.

You're all set — start whenever you're ready.

What to expect

  • A lit dot to memorise, then a distractor question.
  • Three dots per round, then recall in order.
  • Distractors mix arithmetic, rotation and symmetry.

What it measures

  • Working memory
  • Executive attention
  • Resistance to interference

Instructions

  1. 1Fix each dot's position before the distractor appears.
  2. 2Answer the distractor quickly — it is designed to overwrite the dot.
  3. 3Recall the dots in the order they were shown, not the order you remember them.

Tips

  • Chunk positions as a shape or a path rather than as separate squares.
  • Don't over-invest in the distractor: it isn't the point of the test.
