Fold the net into the cube

scales spr — cube folding. A flat net is shown with a symbol on each face; work out which of the folded cubes it makes. Every symbol has to land on the right face at the right rotation, so eyeballing it does not work. Used across Aon's engineering, technical and apprenticeship assessments.

What to expect

  • A flat cube net with symbols on its faces.
  • Several folded cubes to choose between.
  • Exactly one correct answer — the distractors are verified against all 24 rotations.

What it measures

  • Spatial reasoning
  • Mental folding & rotation
  • Visual working memory

Instructions

  1. 1Fix on two faces that are adjacent in the net; they must stay adjacent on the cube.
  2. 2Opposite faces in a net can never appear together on one view of the cube.
  3. 3Check the rotation of each symbol, not just which face it is on.

Tips

  • Work from one corner where three faces meet — that fixes the whole orientation.
  • If two faces that are opposite in the net appear side by side, that option is wrong.
